Legacy Sport Media’s latest publication is the programme for ParalympicsGB Sports Fest, taking place at Surrey Sports Park on 3-4 December 2012. Aimed at potential athletes who have been inspired by the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the British Paralympic Association’s ParalympicsGB Sports Fest is a free event offering disabled people the chance to try out over 20 different sports, find out how to get involved, and meet some of our incredible Paralympic medal winners!

The 48-page programme includes a gatefold cover with schedules and floorplans, highlights of the 2012 Games with quotes from some of the stars, details of how to explore disability sport and find a local club, plus pages devoted to every one of the 25 Summer and Winter Paralympic disciplines. It has been a very rewarding job to work on, and we hope this and future Sports Fest events are a roaring success.

Legacy sponsored sailor wins silver at Finn World Masters

The Legacy Sport Media sponsored sailor, Allen Burrell, was on the podium today at the 2012 Finn World Masters Championships in Pwllheli, North Wales, to receive the silver medal behind the Czech Republic’s Michael Maier and ahead of France’s Laurent Hay, in the 133 strong fleet. Not only was Burrell (GBR) the only non-Olympian on the podium, his finish in the predominantly light and shifty regatta was more remarkable for not being in his favoured, breezy conditions.

Legacy Sport Media stepped in to support Allen with a new sail and coaching support at the Finn Gold Cup in Falmouth, where he took on the might of the world’s best Olympic sailors to prepare for his tilt at the World Masters title. As Ben Ainslie and all the London 2012 Finn class contenders battled it out in the testing wind and waves off Falmouth, Burrell used the experience to pick up skills and confidence to help make him faster downwind in the Masters fleet.

As the most successful British Masters sailor, Burrell was featured in the recent edition of the Legacy Sport Media produced magazine, PUMP, where he discussed his ambitions for the 2012 World Masters and his concerns if the conditions were light. With Legacy’s help Allen was able to acquire a new light weather sail, which proved key to his success at the championship.

Burrell commented, ‘It was a great week with unusually hot and sunny conditions for North Wales! I would like to thank Legacy for the support they have given me and that enable me to win my second silver medal in two years’.

Next year’s Finn World Masters Championship will be in La Rochelle, France and Burrell aims to again take on Michael Maier and Laurent Hay on his home waters for top spot.
